Pumped-Hydro AWES Concept A farm of kites lifting hoses (and/or bags) full of water high into the air can create a large common instantaneous head of water to drive a hydro-electric generator at higher-efficiency than ordinary pumped-hydro at a lower head. A simple valve suffices to match load to generation, without complex gearing or close kite control. This is not Pumped-Hydro Storage as such, but a distinct AWES concept, partly related to long-discussed concepts for kite-based wildfire-fighting, irrigation, etc.. CC BY NC SA
