Energy Storage Energy may
be stored in many ways for various reasons and various lengths of time
from short to long duration. EnergyKiteSystems aims to stay aware of
energy storage options, but see the need to collaborate with experts in
energy storage when AWES are ready for inputting energy to energy storage
systems or using stored energy in AWES operations. Further, there is a
realm where kite itself has energy storage within itself both in
transient energy storage and in longer-term energy storage; such pointed
kite energy-storage topics are of special concern to us. |

- energy storage system (e.g., raise
water, compress air, split water to hydrogen and oxygen, charge
batteries, charge ultracapacitors, lift mass, make and store heat,
flywheel, ... ) Energy kite systems may use the generated energy
immediately or store the energy, or place the energy into a community
grid.

- Lifted mass for later drop. Kite systems may lift mass
and then later drop the mass. Soil or water may be lifted up a
mountain and later dropped down an incline or pipe.
- Flying a hang glider in a thermal puts potential energy into the
pilot and wing; that energy may later be spent for gliding down the
aerial inclines.
- A person hiking up a hill is storing potential energy into his or
her body; that energy may be used for rolling or gliding down the hill
or aerial inclines. Falling uses potential energy of a raised mass.

energy stored in energy sailplanes and energy gliders or energy hang
gliders are discussed.
- Rotational kinetic energy or
angular kinetic
energy is a form of stored energy. When a kite system has rotating
parts, then energy is stored in rotation. Flywheels, turbine blades,
rotating disks, and gyroscopic rings are examples. Gyrokites and
flipwings have some stored energy.
