actions and answering
via an interactive online program: |
Questions for one progressing in the OP-0 program:
- How many hang glider pilots die each year in the world as a result
of their hang gliding activity?
- How many serious injuries occur in hang gliding each year?
- Do you aim to study the causes of hang gliding accidents in order to
advance your own safety?
- About how many active flying HG pilots are there?
- How does hang gliding compare to other sports and other human
activity as to injury and fatality rate?
- What is the PDMC? What is its core contention? Do you
believe Mr. Masters is willing to correct data errors, if found or
reported to him by others?
- Do want there to be organizations solely dedicated to airframed hang
gliding?
- Was a TCF cable-stayed combined with pilot hung from keel in a hang glider in
Breslau in year 1908?
- Did the wing Olive of Jose Weiss have washout? What is
washout? Culver twist? Pitch stability? Pitchy? Why is washout in
a wing important?
- Wheels, skis, skids, sleds and whacks? What is going on with
those whacks?
- How would one physically train to get ready for first training
flights? Ear? Ambulation? Reach? Personal need? Hydration? Etc.
- What is camber reflex in a wing? Why is camber reflex
important?
- What is a "death grip"?
- Why am I in the process of fulfilling the Otto-0
rating program?
- What are windfield helicities?
- How one might advance one's windfield visualization powers?
- Explain "intermediate syndrome" as regards pilots in the learning
process.
- Who was Larry Tudor (of hang gliding) and what do you think he
meant by "Student always." -
Larry Tudor
- Where and when do rotors occur? What
are causes of rotors? How strongly do you want to be in answering this
question?
- Are you willing to discern among
niche HG activity for yourself, even perhaps
change directions in the future?
- Do you see how many hang gliders are kite
systems with the resistive element being the falling mass of the pilot?

Readings for one progressing in the OP-0 program:

Field experiences for one progressing in the OP-0
program:
- Measure wind speed with an owned meter.
- Fly a string-hand-held kite in mild wind and in heavy wind.
- Made and flew some unmanned hand-launched paper gliders of various
sorts indoors and outdoor while making observations.
- Observe air traffic in various areas. Identify airports. Study
airspace sectional for your region. Identify airspace where hang gliding
may occur legally.
-
|
HG Community actions for one progressing in the OP-0
program:
- Observed in person a hang glider pilot launch and land. Talked to
that pilot.
