Contemporary commercial products for inhabited powered-pod autogyros
where the kite line is stiffened but still the wing is towed through the
tensioned unpowered shaft. The power pod is pushed or pulled by a power
unit and separate propeller; these are powered gyrokites

AWES using gyrokites
|
|
Terms
- Distinguish strongly between gyrokite that has wing autorotating
from helicopter that powers the wing directly; big difference.
- Let the tensioned kite line be short and stiff to get gyrogliders
and autogyros (autogyros using a powerd anchor or powered pod that is in
free flight, but still kiting the lifting rotor wings)
- The resistive system of a gyrokite may be moving relative to the
surface of the earth or fixed relative to the surface of the earth.
- Kites: {W1, T, W2} where the a wing set is tethered to
another wing set, and all placed in media such as air, water, soup,
plasma, etc. When the deflections give tension to the elements of the
tether set T, then kiting dynamics occur. In gyrokite, the resistive set
or one of the sets, say W1, gives resistance to wing set W2 through the
elements of T, the tether set; the resulting kiting event given gyrokite
when the wing set consists of autorotating wings. The wings may be rigid
or extremely flexible.
- Distinguish between power-bladed helicopters and power-poded
autogyros.
- Distinguish between gyrokite having no R-C and those that do have
R-C. Again this line does not include powered-bladed helicopters.
- Autorotation
- Positive gyrokiting
- Negative gyrokiting
- Attempted neutral gyrokiting
- autorotation
