This is how Germany's first aircraft wind
turbine works by Lukas Knauer Schleswig-Holstein Magazin Sept. 14, 2020 The plant is in Klixbül. Video regarding same site: https://youtu.be/UZ82rK_RS4U Note: The "aircraft" is a SLK using a Jalbert evolute double-skin soft wing. |

(same post in HERE) Pure Crosswind Load Motion Had KiteShip continued R&D, they would likely be doing multi-MW scale output, but with less all-mode automation. The calculation was 2MW per person, as a rough labor standard in COTS power plants, and that FAA would in any case require a PIC (Pilot-in Command) for sense-and-avoid. NASA LaRC's NI based vision system (Austin) would have been the supervisory automation basis. Expect SkySails to converge toward larger SS wings, consistent with Culp's findings and TUDelft's upcoming MSc Thesis. As a minimal surface with unbeatable scalability, the OL could be licensed, or an SS open-source NPW variant adopted. The topological design variants below offer operational advantages over the SkySails initial reeling architecture: more continuous power cycle, no downwind cycle loss, no control-pod nor conductive tether dependence, and far less runaway risk (passive self-kill). Not all the details are clear in this schematic, like kPower's basic method for multi-line control, via heddle pulleys. |

Santos AWEC2020- SkySails First AWES Commissioned for Continuous Operation!!! dave santos 5:46 PM (1 hour ago) to Saul, Pete, me It is really happening. SkySails is the historic AWES first utility-scale commercialization. kPower has longtime friendly MOU relation with SkySails, if you pitch LarryE. We were first offered US dealership status, but we are not in AWES sales (yet). kPower holds the topological-scaling keys (with TUK) to go forward. SkySails launching mast method is 110yr old German ship-kite art kite historian, Walter Diem, best documented. Dave Culp was anguished in 2007 to see SkySails advance, as KiteShip was strangled in the cradle; but its certainly not to late, still early. 2030 is still a ways out. Stay tuned for TUK research in prepublication phases, with AWES calcs and sims to GW scale and beyond. Even TUDelft finally pivoting, with an MSc Thesis in the works validating giant SS wings. We always told them so... The only bad news- still no PL Sr Newsletter Emoji ----- Forwarded Message ----- From: dave santos To: Joe Faust <editor@upperwindpower.com> Sent: Sunday, August 2, 2020, 07:13:51 PM CDT Subject: AWEC2020- SkySails First AWES Commissioned for Continuous Operation!!! July 6, 2020, post by Dave Santos Skysails Confirms UV Life of modern kites not a major concern "Thanks to PierreB for getting further confirmation of kPower's findings regarding great UV life of advanced kite materials. Paraglider human safety margins never were a realistic AWES limit; most of a soft kite's service life remains after 500 hrs, with a gradual loss of performance that can be mostly recouped by bridle retuning and fabric resealing. Carbon-black kites are practically UV-proof, and a thrifty paraglider pilot can order accordingly. Skysails: "The use of modern UV coatings
