Power-Kite killed in mid-air, then brought back to life (easy-method)
kPower is using a Dan Tracy Reel- Bar in a new way. The reel is used for a pilot-lifter whose line is attached to the kite-stack-points on a vintage 1.8 Prism Stylus power kite. Its rigged a bit different in some photos, but the same general method.
Basic function is quite robust; optimal rigging and operational details are the residual challenge. The power-kite can be diving full speed to earth and suddenly passively kills and stops. without even touching down. The kite can be powered up or streamered with ease, as topologically protected back-and-forth states, all day long.

Conventional "kite depower" is not a large-enough truly bistable phase-change compared to full killing/furling. Furling is essential to limit lattice energy in storms. Problematic AWES architectures lack robust airborne phases for varied conditions, and must often land, while a suitable multi-phase architecture can cover far more conditions without forced landing, in both calm and storm.
