- EnergyCentral editor was sent a notice of cooperative linking:
Editor,
We have linked your off-shore thrust,
as we note that seaAWE may well one day replace the
dominance of the lower hard-towered habit.

You are welcome to use
text and contact the over-100
researchers in airborne wind energy, many with eyes to the sea.
- Cooperation handshake with C. Archer as regards potential morphing of

"My preference is open membership which can be suspended if a
standard is violated.
The most important standard is safety. Growing the field
is a major goal.
Technical & economic worth of a member is secondary.
A key will be to have the big players join & support AWEIA.
This will be a challenge.
Transparency & high principles will make
it hard for them to hold out. ds"

AWEIA
- Consensus reached on name of association via e-mail conferences.
-
AirborneWindEnergy group in Yahoo was formed to support
the coming AWEIA mission. Founded: Mar 13, 2009
- EnergyKiteSystems.net was founded with eye from group of AWE workers for
AWEIA future.
- KiteTypes article and Kite Controls article bring some AWE workers
together.
- Drachen Foundation conference on high altitude wind power gives
cornerstone to renaissance in kite energy. Report spawns a gathering of
communications among many kite energy workers. Dave Lang summarizing some
AWECS systems in a PDF document for all.
- Dave Santos demonstrates working AWECS systems at world kite festival.
He charges cell phone with AWECS. He energizes LEDs with AWECS. He would go on
to demonstrate many innovative AWECS arrangements chronicled in his web and in
AWEIA-related web pages..
- Dave Culp forwards decades of AWE via sea-tug schemes. KiteShip, KiteTug.
Others followed. Robust ship-tug AWE and even KitVes project types are
forming.
- Italy and Netherlands have high altitude wind power meetings, file
patents, and demonstrate feasibility of what was found started in the 1970s by
Selsam, Roberts, and others. Patents blossom.
- In 1970s there was a flowering of AWE patents and notarized innovations.
A slowing of interest would occur, only later to blossom with the green
revolution, oil crisis, and kiting interests.
- 1833 “We might extend the application of [wind] power to the
heights of the clouds,
by means of kites.” ~utopian technologist John Etzler, 1833
This is part of the foundation for AWEIA.
- For nearly 4000 years, wind energy was being
converted to mechanical energy by AWECS (moving kite lines, moving people's
arms, tugging anchors, etc.). Following such lead, that mechanical energy is
being mined to change the face of energy sourcing for the world.
